DONALD SALLER & THE NOBILITY - Just Because * Royalty
Cool Pop Garage
Very neat pop song. Well done harmonies, good production that evades being too clean cut. And just when you think "yep, this is cute", they shift gears and start some serious rocking in the bridge part. Recommended by Captain Salty!

THE SOUL TRIPPERS * Promo Pic
OMAR & THE VILLAGE IDIOTS - Liz * Pacific Challenger
Totally Great Doofus Beat Hit
I wish I had penned that tune... It's a masterpiece, at least some kind of. Fake British accents is nothing that usually makes me flip, but on this here 45, everything fits. I can't get this ditty out of my head for months now... Aaaaargh!

TRAVIS PIKE AND THE BRATTLE STREET EAST - Don't Hurt Me Again * No Label
Moody Teen Beat Lament
I was hipped to this nice 45 by a setsale list from Arf Arf's Erik L. who recommended this one. Wasn't hard to track down, so here it is. The beginning is pretty sloppy, harmonies-wise, but they keep on pushing.

FOUR BY FOUR - Love Lights * Bash
Bold Northwest Take On The Sonics
Pretty raw, organ-driven beat, fronted by a shouter-type singer. Classic Northwest howler that has escaped the compilation horde.

BOMPERS - Do The Bomp * HBR
Fantabulous Teen Pop In Bold
This has been a fave for quite some time now! Not "garage", but excello Beach Boys-styled "dance-craze"-Pop.

THE CAPERS - I'm Walkin' The Dog * WAM
Cool-shit Garage Thumper On The Scarce WAM Outta Ohio
I got two CAPERS 45 on WAM, and both have a cool side and a far lesser one. This baby's flip just plainly stinks: "You'll Never Walk Alone"...eeeks! But the topside is the beef: a slightly soulish take on the Rufus Thomas classic, that was often covered, but mostly pretty boringly. Not these lads! This is a smoking thumper! Go!!

SATAN'S SINNERS - Why Don't They Leave Us Alone * United Kombos
Ultra Sparse Moody Teen Beat Lament Outta Nowheresville
This is really lo-fi! Sounding ca. '64 or '65, those teens nailed a more than functional composition and added loads of honest teenage desperation. the sound is so raw, it might as well have been recorded in a basement. The flip is a cool, slightly novelty-ish garage beat ditty called "T. Termiter".
