SHOREMEN - I Expect Too Much (Wynwood)

Baltimore Teenbeat Gold
Baltimore, Maryland combo that waxed two ACE 45s in 1965/'66. "She's Bad" will be well-known to you, but you gotta take a look at the rest of the batch as well: "Look Into Her Eyes", the flip of "Bad" will be comped on STRANGE WORLDS#5 later this year. This tune, from their 2nd disc, is a fabulous uptempo beat raver that sticks in your ear. Was even issued with a PS. The flip is a good hotrod beat thang that's the weakest of the SHOREMEN'S output.

PIED PIPERS - Hold On I'm Comin' (WAM)

Quite Elusive WAM-BamThis will grow on you. The flip to the beefy "Hey Joe" may seem a bit lighthearted at first, but is a classy garage tune. Youngstown, OH band that issued a second 45 on Hamlin Town in '66.

EXCHEQUERS - Greensleeves (Boom)

Cool Raw Instro
A very fine instro we got here. Nasty guitars, tight playing, a real garage vibe. The flip "Is There Some Girl" you will know. La Crosse, WI band with their sole release. From 1965, issued on green vinyl, yummy!

BAD OMENS - He Was A Friend Of Mine (Twin Town)

Byrds-y To The Max Jangler
Minnessota 1966 jangler that emulates the BYRDS so much it's frightening. What a cool band monicker, by the way. They chose to put even TWO Dylan standards on their sole 45. This one (recorded by Zimmy) and the flip, a cool take on Bob's "Chimes of Freedom". Good record! McGuinn would have been proud.

TORONADOS - Let Me Be Your Man (Phalanx)

Michigan Teen Beat Winner
On the profilic PHALANX label, here comes a tuff 1966 release. Both sides still uncomped, this is a worthy addition to your collection. No crude snot here, but a rocking band nevertheless. Watch out for the moody flip on STRANGE WORLDS#5.

ROCKIN' REBELLIONS - Run For Your Life (Vaughn-LTD)

Alabama Garage Beat GoldCool fast 1966 Teen Rocker that well deserves to be heard.
